Key Insights

  • Digital systems can bridge the gap between working from home and in-person by providing seamless connectivity and collaboration.
  • Digital systems can enable individuals and teams to better understand themselves and their colleagues, leading to enhanced productivity and satisfaction.
  • Underutilization of office space in Toronto presents an opportunity to reallocate or transform these spaces for the benefit of both employers and employees, and support sustainable practices.

Outcomes

The consultation on work connectivity tools and spatial management systems led to the development of two solutions. The first solution focused on enhancing work connectivity by enabling employees and employers to track skill development and improve team formation. Whereas the second solution addressed the issue of underutilized office space by offering overnight rest options and adaptable workspaces with automated modular furniture.

These innovative approaches have the potential to foster better work environments, drive policy change, and bring about substantial improvements in employee satisfaction, workspace optimization, and environmental sustainability.
